Phonics is an importnat building block children have in order to learn to read. If this is right children develop fluency and enjoyment in both reading and writing.
Children learn the sounds by associating the sounds to objects. E.g
/s/ as in sun
/ai/ as in aim
/ee/ as in eel

Children have 5 phonic sessions a week and a phonics driven guided reading session. During these sessions children will develop the skills in order to learn to read and start to apply them in writing.
Our phonic sessions is about the pace in which children are able to decode and blend when reading unfamiliar words. We are aware they maybe an over reliance on decoding and blending every word. So we have a challenge system in place! It's a simple one...
