Reading is a right that all children are entitled too. At Cookridge Primary we aim to ensure that every child is able to read and enjoy it!!!!
Reading is fun!
Children work through the colored bands during guided reading sessions with a member of the teaching team.
During these guided reading sessions children will have an opportunity to develop their phonic knowledge and comprehension skills.

As the children progress through the bands the more is expected of reading. Children are required to infer, deduce and interpret information within the text.
Most simply infering is reading between the lines, making links between language and what is happening within the text and why characters react to events.
These skills are continually worked on during these guided reading sessions. Please use BUG CLUB to support your child's reading.
